    Description

Vintage Jos. H. Ferodowill Dual C Clamp Machinist vise
Apparently first invented for the purpose of holding bicycle gears and cones for filing and chains for straightening or pinning work - please see the history details below.
This vice is great for center twisting gold or copper bracelet wire.
This vintage vise is still straight and the spring and threads are still fine.
Appears original all over including the screws, no repairs or modifications.
The base is approximately 11 1/2 inches long.
Inside capacity is approximately 4 1/2 inch diameter.
Universal #2 model: The #328 clamps on this unit are spread 7" center to center with clamps at furthest side travel .
Center down to bench is 3 3/4", clamps may be tilted up to about 3 1/2". In the lowest position clamp centers down to base are 2 1/4".
I have loosened the lock screws and tilted all 3 pieces on the shaft, but have not cleaned it enough to slide the clamps sideways.
It needs a good sanding or similar cleaning, paint and lubrication.
    Good for
    carving or gluing
alignment , or a welding or brazing fixture.
